Job Description: As the Service Writer you ensure that the customer's repair services needs are being fulfilled through product management and/or service delivery. You must possess product knowledge and bring efficiency to the relationship between the customer and our company. You will work as a liaison for the business by collecting customer information and logging the process of the repair for billing purposes. You will bring competence to the customer's experience by coordinating the transaction in an efficient manner.
Job Duties: Job duties as the Service Writer revolve around the needs of the customer. You will develop relationships with the customers through successful management of product or service delivery. Your duties can include tracking repairs and their causes, scheduling technicians and processing warranties. You may be required to develop a customer profile by collecting and inputting information in the computer system and continue to update and maintain.
Additional duties as the service writer involve developing cost estimates. When a customer requests a repair, you as service writer will log what parts are needed, how much time should be allocated to make the repair and schedules the appropriate technician for the job based on the customer and their repair needs. This information is conveyed to both the customer and the employer of the service writer in a timely fashion.
Job Requirements: Product knowledge, and previous service writing experience in the automotive industry is preferred. As there are portions of the customer profile that need to be entered into a computer system, knowledge of office computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, is preferred.
