Design Drafter

Our client is an industry leader and one of the largest and most respected industrial refrigeration and mechanical contracting firms in the industry. Specializing in system design, installation, service support and regulatory compliance, the client is dedicated to exceptional engineering, workmanship, teamwork and a strong client relationship. As a full service Refrigeration Contractor, they provide their clients with the option of a design-build approach.

Summary:

The Design Drafter works in support of the Engineering and Project Management team assuring that design criteria, client service, budget and schedule expectations are met. The Design Drafter utilizes drafting skills and contributes to the overall team collaboration to execute design build construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational

  • Assist the design team in defining refrigeration project scope, design and engineering
  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop construction drawings and P&IDs
  • Develop valve schedules
  • Complete As-Built drawings at the completion of the project
  • Assist in tracking project milestones and deliverables
  • Assist in ensuring budget requirements are met
  • Assist in ensuring project schedules are met
  • Assist in meeting customer expectations
  • Maintain clear project communication and project collaboration
  • Attend required meetings
  • Assist management with all other office projects as needed
  • Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments
  • In accordance with Company philosophy, the DD is expected to champion and direct continuous learning and improvement in all functions

 

Customer Focused

  • Make decisions based on customer needs, desires and expectations and on Company standards, not on personal preferences, style or theory
  • Maintain free-flowing information and cooperation between customer and Company project management team and parts team.
  • Work with project team to find best approaches to handle customer requests
  • Consider the importance of internal/external customer relationships when planning/conducting work

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate general office equipment (Computer, printer, fax, copier, mailing center, etc.)
  • Proficient in the AutoCAD suite
  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical piping systems
  • Become fluent in Microsoft Project and all other Company computer programs and applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, listening, team player, cooperative, approachable)
  • Ability to assist in maintaining a positive team environment by maintaining a positive attitude toward all Company team members, vendors and customers
  • Ability to be flexible, multi task, manage stress and perform acceptably under pressure
  • Ability to participate effectively in a team atmosphere by modeling and promoting conflict resolution, diversity, ethical practices and organizational citizenship
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a problem-solving mindset; to anticipate problems and to develop constructive and balanced solutions

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience drafting mechanical piping systems
  • College level drafting courses preferred
  • All Company employees who drive company owned vehicles or drive their own vehicle for company purposes must present and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clear DMV record that is insurable with our company vehicle insurance company

Pay Rate: $52,000 to $72,800 per year
