In Demand Manufacturing Certifications: Certified Production Technician
Looking for a way to rise above the competition and land a higher-paying job in manufacturing?
Seeking to advance your production or material handling career?
Want to expand your production knowledge to qualify for top jobs in your industry?
Despite supply chain struggles and economic uncertainty, the manufacturing industry continues to grow, offering excellent opportunities for job seekers looking for career growth.
Stand out from the crowd! The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) offers Certified Production Technician (CPT)® 4.0 certification to product technicians with advanced understanding of industry standards.
What is a Certified Production Technician?
Individuals who demonstrate comprehension of the core competencies of advanced manufacturing production at the entry-level to front-line supervisor and complete certification in four key areas (with an optional Green Production assessment) can achieve Certified Production Technician certification. This certification helps ensure product technicians have the skills to succeed in industry roles and is an ideal program for those with limited to no prior knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
Boost Your Income with CPT Certification
Gaining certification can help you forge a career path in the high-skill, in-demand field of production and manufacturing. Becoming a CPT shows employers you’ve mastered the skills, can do the work, and care about growing your career. Your commitment to professional growth can translate into higher-paying jobs with more room for advancement.
How to Get CPT Certification
The CPT program is made up of five production technician assessments:
- Safety
- Quality Practices and Measurement
- Manufacturing Processes and Production
- Maintenance Awareness
- Green Production (Not part of Full CPT Certification)
For Full CPT 4.0 Certification, candidates must earn the first four certificates, which are based on MSSC’s industry-defined, nationally validated skill standards. The program can be completed online or in written form and contains 80-101 multiple-choice questions.
Achieving CPT certification shows that you understand the principles of production and can help employers increase production, safety, and profitability—and can give you an edge over other job seekers. If you’re looking to take the next step in your manufacturing career, becoming a Certified Production Technician can help you level up!
