Disillusioned with the high cost of college, the Toolbelt Generation is increasingly looking to take advantage of skilled trade opportunities that offer career growth and financial stability. Local companies will benefit from learning new strategies to help attract, hire, and retain this valuable demographic. Join the virtual webinar to hear from experts who will share their perspectives and provide actionable steps for building a pipeline of talent:

Ron Hetrick, Senior Labor Economist, Lightcast: As a corporate economist who previously worked at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Hetrick will open the discussion by providing labor advice based on his tracking and analysis of national trends.

Genelle Taylor Kumpe, CEO, Fresno Business Council and the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance: Kumpe’s understanding of the local business and educational landscape, including as a former adjunct faculty member at Fresno City College, make her uniquely qualified to discuss the priorities of Gen Z skilled trade workers.

Sean Akin, VP of Branch Operations, Fresno, PrideStaff: With over 20 years of expertise in recruiting and retaining employees in Fresno and Tri-Valley, Akin will share his knowledge of the region’s labor market and expertise in recruiting local next gen talent.

The session will be moderated by Leslie Vickrey, CEO and Founder of ClearEdge. Vickrey is a well-known speaker, author, and podcast host dedicated to advancing the staffing and HR industries.

Discussion points include:

  • How demographics and generational changes are impacting skilled labor recruitment
  • What’s working (and what’s not) for employers today to recruit new workers
  • What cultural adjustments help employers deal with different generations
  • What expectations should managers have as they help shape a new generation of skilled talent
