PrideStaff Releases 2014 Workforce Hiring Projections Survey Findings
August 27, 2014PrideStaff has released the results of its 2014 Workforce Hiring Projections Survey, designed to gauge workforce and hiring trends across the U.S. Conducted in May, the online survey was completed by nearly 1,000 individuals, representing a wide range of industries and company sizes.
Overall, the results show that business growth and increased demand are the key drivers of hiring. Throughout 2013 and into 2014, unemployment rates continued to creep lower, creating hiring challenges that threaten continued business growth. Specifically, respondents cited “shortage of qualified talent” (56.2%), “budget/payroll constraints” (32.5%), “lack of time to hire” (8.4%), and “the cost of hiring” (2.9%) as the biggest hiring challenges they face.
The survey also indicates that shortages of skilled workers and general labor, increased time-to-hire, and a renewed focus on retaining existing talent are also key workforce issues for U.S. employers. With skills shortages making hiring more challenging, nearly 50% of employers plan to turn to temporary and contract staff to help fill their needs.
